We tried 20 animal-friendly airlines. We tested two cats with various carriers from the airlines. Based on vet and travel expert advice, we chose the best carrier.

Our top choice was the Wild One Travel Carrier, which is versatile. There is also the Elite Field Carrier, a more affordable option that is still comfortable for your cat.

This cat carrier, the Elite Field Soft-Sided Airline Approved Carrier, while not perfect, is very convenient and affordable at $35. It has many features, including a removable padded shoulder strap, a comfortable carry handle, a secure luggage strap, and plenty of pockets. Testing shows that this carrier is well ventilated and friction-resistant. Although there was a slight problem with the stitching on the base when washed, this did not interfere with its use. An important feature it lacks is a top-opening door and a warranty. The bag is available in two flexible sizes, of which even the larger one can fit into a box measuring 18 inches long, 11 inches wide and 11 inches high.

The best backpack: Mr. Peanut Backpack

Mr. Peanut's Backpack Carrier is a convenient way to travel through the airport with your cat.
